A salad is always welcome either as a side dish,  a main course , or even a starter...a Geek salad can be any of these...almost every Greek family , that loves healthy food will include this salad on their either lunch or dinner table...the recipe of the Greek salad which became very famous about 60 years ago , simply comes from the Greek -Americans , first and second generations, with the memory of their progenitors working on the Greek fields...they  will always curry tomatoes cucumbers onions olives  and dry bread for their lunch break....when Greek Americans used this combination to make a salad sold by  restaurants named it Greek salad made it famous all over the world....by adding the feta cheese (white soft salty cheese) turned it to a main course popular up to date and very healthy too....recently I discovered in the Greek market a little bread basket and I have started using this for serving  a Greek salad.....if you cannot find one, then make the Greek salad  and add dry bread...it tastes good and it is so pleasant to have  during the  summer warm evenings....
